Meta4 Independent Software Review

Meta4 Hosting & Software Pricing

Hosting and Cloud Delivery

Software hosting takes place from Meta4's primary data center in Madrid, Spain; however, the company also has backup data center locations in Amsterdam and London. Because all three data centers are within the European Community, Spanish data privacy law (arguably one of the most restrictive safeguards) is applied. Meta4 data centers are ISO 27001 and SAS 70 (now SSAE 16) certified and equipped with redundancy, fail safe communications/energy provisions, and 24x7 hardware/software monitoring to ensure maximum data security and platform accessibility.

Additional hosting specifications include:

  • Functional and Technical Evolutions: all upgrades are automatic and transparent to the customer.
  • Corrective Maintenance: incidences and enhancements are included as part of the Meta4 platform and software maintenance.
  • Data and application backup: client information and specific configurations are backed up regularly to ensure that a mirrored snapshot of the client application is available for recovery.
  • Security framework: includes internet firewalls/IPS, anti-virus, dedicated FTP server for content uploading and downloading using the SSH protocol, secured data transactions, 24x7 physical security surveillance at data centers, company data protection and confidentiality, authentication, and secure identity management.

Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are offered in the areas of: Platform Operability, Response Time, Critical & Very Serious Incident Resolution, and Service Levels for Back-Ups. While specific details of how SLA remunerations would be handled were not disclosed, it is expected that some type of percentage-based credit would be allocated if SLAs are not met. Unlike many SaaS and cloud application providers, Meta4 does not offer a publicly available online status monitor to display SaaS availability (such as uptime history and downtime history), online performance characteristics (latency, jitter and packet loss) and maintenance windows and other advanced scheduling activities.

Meta4 Software Pricing

Meta4 professes that its PeopleNet suite has all of its capabilities included in the base system price which has a license fee that is based on a pay-per-use model. This monthly subscription fee is set at a fixed rate per employee, which covers certain software issues such as license for usage, hosting, support, and maintenance. While this model describes a subscription option that is decidedly SaaS, certain elements hint at additional charges that may be below the surface—namely the 4 separate packages that the company sells. No specific pricing specs were released by the vendor in our query.
